We all know that feeling when we wake up in the morning – we’re tired, our minds are racing, and we just want to go back to sleep. But we force ourselves to get up and start the day anyway. Sound familiar?
If this is your typical morning routine, then it’s time for a change. A morning yoga routine is a perfect way to start your day. It will help you wake up your body and mind, and set the tone for the rest of the day.
This 10-minute morning yoga routine is easy to follow and can be done by anyone, regardless of experience. Give it a try and see how it transforms your day!

Get started by finding a comfortable spot to practice.
If you’re ready to start your morning yoga routine, the first step is to find a comfortable spot to practice. You might choose to practice in your bed if you’re still feeling groggy and need to relax. Or if you have a spot in your living room or garden, you could lay down your mat and make yourself comfortable. If you’re feeling inspired, you could even go to your local park and practice outdoors! Whichever place you choose, make sure you have enough space to be able to move around freely. You should also have access to some cushions or blocks so that you can fully relax into the poses.

Take a few deep breaths in and out to center yourself.
Once you’ve found your comfortable spot, take a few deep breaths in and out. This will help to center your mind and body and get you ready for yoga. As your breathing slows down, focus on your intention for the session. Do you want to be energized for the day ahead? Or relaxed and ready for sleep? Make sure you’re clear on your intention before you start moving.

Start with a basic sun salutation by inhaling and raising your arms overhead, then exhale and fold forward.
The next step is to start with a basic sun salutation. This can be done by inhaling and raising your arms overhead. Make sure your arms are nice and wide, so you can open up your chest and shoulders. As you exhale, fold forwards and let gravity pull your head down toward the ground. Feel the tension in your body ease away as you relax into the pose. This is a great way to start your yoga practice and prepare for the poses to come.

Inhale and come up to a standing position, then exhale and bend backward.
On your next inhale, come up to a standing position. Make sure you’re standing tall so that you can stretch your whole body. Then as you exhale, bend backward and reach your arms up towards the sky. This is a great pose to open up your spine and give you a good stretch.
Inhale and come up to standing, then exhale and twist to the right.
Now it’s time to add in a few twists. Inhale and come up to standing, and as you exhale, twist to the right and place your left hand on the outside of your right thigh. Make sure to keep your spine lengthened and your chest open, and focus on deepening the twist as you move.
Repeat the twist to the left.
Next, inhale back up to standing and repeat the twist to the left. Make sure that you’re twisting from your abdomen and upper back, so you can open up your body. This pose is great for releasing any tension that may have built up in your body overnight.

Finish up with a few more deep breaths and feel refreshed for the day ahead!
The last step of your 10-minute yoga routine is to finish with a few more deep breaths. Feel the oxygen fill your lungs and the calmness overtake your being. This is the perfect way to end your yoga session and begin the day feeling refreshed and invigorated. Start and end each day with a mindful yoga practice, and soon enough you’ll start to feel the transformation that it brings to your life.
